A few weeks ago I got a call from a man saying he was calling people in Omaha giving them a 500.00 shopping spree to any of the local stores in Omaha for trying their phone card. It would just cost me 4.95 and if I didn't like it I could cancel and still have the shopping spree. They would send this information in the mail and I could cancel anytime before the 10 free day trial and be out only the 4.95. They got my account for the 4.95 and said that I could send the check in during the trial.
I asked every question telling him it was too good and he had a person come on a different line for verification making it sound perfessional. They taped everything and I was just silly, because my gut still said NO! There were three people from connections who asked questions to make sure it was all clear. I was dumb for doing this.
Today I checked my account to find that Star Communication did charge me the 4.95 they said they would for the trial. It worried me because I hadn't heard anything back from them or in the mail with a phone number so I knew my 10 day trial was up today and was afraid I would start getting charged 100s of dollars.
I got on the computer to find that this is a BAD scam everywhere. They are good because they fooled me and I worked them to prove it was all good and they had me assured. He gave me his ID number and name. I was looking on the computer at the same time and saw that there is a Star Communication. I didn't look hard enough. I would just read the info he was sending me. Just like they say "If it sounds to good to be true then it is!"
My bank was wonderful at cancelling my account fast enough that they can't get anymore money, but how they do it is that if you don't check your account in the time around the 10 days they can already have the 150.00 wired and taken out of your account. Banks are not always that fast to cancel. Ususally you have to have things in writting and with this you have no time to waist. It showed up on my account as a transfer with no information for the bank to give me. It is a bother to have to cancel accounts and open new ones.
Just don't EVER trust a telemarketer and nothing is worth giving out your account over the phone or computer. They sound like they are all from India. They get huffy if you ask too many questions and tell them you're uneasy about it. I thought I would wait for it in writting, but I already did the bad and gave them all they really wanted. My ACCOUNT! Don't make my mistake.
