I saw the infomercial on TV here in California, and called one of the 3 locations here in our town. It was all so seceretive at the get go when they call you back, which I thought was strange.
Only two other couples were present which I thought was odd for what was suppose to be an honor to get an invite to such a busy company with hundreds of new members. The place was empty.
The only thing you get to see is a 1 hour video talking about great savings from over 700 mfgs (only 3 mfg. S is all they show. And only a very few of their hand picked items that were at great savings, not much more was offered to see any real cost savings. After the video the owner then tells us the Member fee is only $5,800 w / Tax? (this price is obviously higher than the membership fees in other states so I've noticed by reading others complaints) But they do charge 8% handling fees, shipping and tax on the item your buying you have to pick up the items yourself from their store too! Or pay more???
They then have you go with your sales person for signing up easy as that. When we mentioned our concerns about seeing some of the catalogs of items we are interested in they got rude and said it's against their rules to show us, I asked how can I be sure it's a savings if I can't see if they have the items I want or see the cost? Sales person got very short with us and we could tell she was not happy with our questions, she got up and told us if we looked at a catalog we had to be willing to join the membership. We asked that we be given a day to at least check our finances if we wanted to finance or pay in full, this was not acceptable by DirectBuy, we were told once we leave we can not come back ever! The sales lady got to the point where she told us that because we hadn't made up our mind that she had wasted her time on us and wouldn't even take our credit card if we decided to join, both the Owner "Mark" and she made us feel like we stupid for not understanding their point on the savings, it was sign or get loss... I too am a salesperson and knew at the momememt they tried to high pressure with no evidence of any prices savings this was NOT A UP AND UP BUSINESS! We came home and found this site "Rip off" and are very happy with our gut feeling...
