I puchased a puppy from CB Kennels for my daughter. CB Kennels, owned by Cheryl Boettger, is not a real kennel. Cheryl is a puppy broker, who gets the dogs that she sells from puppy mills. The dog we purchased was NOT the dog shown in the photos that Cheryl showed us. She then used photos of the actual dog I received in further ads, as if he was a puppy that she still had for sale. If you go to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website, it shows that she is listed as a puppy broker, and DOES NOT own a kennel, as she tells people that she does on puppyfind, and when you speak with her on the phone.
Cheryl claims that the BBB closed cases against her in her favor. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! The BBB merely mediates when there are issues, and makes the public aware of companies with issues. Its job is not to take sides, or rule in anyone's favor. They are not a court of law. The puppy that I received died within a few days of being picked up from the airport. The puppy tested a STRONG positive for parvo, from which he consequently died. The vet stated that the puppy had been administered shots prematurely, and incorrectly, thus making the shots ineffective. The vet also pointed out that parvo takes between 7-10 days to manifest itself, as it had when we rushed the puppy to the vet that night. (We separately contacted the North Platte Police Department (Cheryl lives in North Platte, NE). The officer consequently contacted an Animal Control personnel on my behalf, who informed the officer that parvo can take up to 10-14 days to manifest itself.) The VET conluded that this was a puppy mill puppy, and the ANIMAL CONTROL personnel and the VET BOTH concluded that the puppy contracted parvo when it was with CHERYL. The puppy subsequently died that night.
When I contacted Cheryl, she tried to have her husband intimidate me on the phone-it didn't work. I told him I would be calling back the next day. I called back SEVERAL times, and left messages, all to no avail. (I have phone records to prove this) Also, Cheryl claimed that I was not entitled to a refund because of the terms of the contract that was sent with the puppy.
This contract is not legally binding. It is sent out with the puppy AFTER the puppy has already been purchased. And, I as the buyer, have NEVER signed the contract or agreed to its terms. A contract by definition must have an offer and an ACCEPTANCE! I never accepted any of the terms in her "contract", b/c I NEVER SAW IT or heard of it until after the puppy arrived. All Cheryl has is an offer piece of paper with her signature on it. THIS IS NOT A CONTRACT!!! IF she has scammed you in the past trying to use her contract as her legal trump card, know that her contract is WORTHLESS!!!
The bottom line is that Cheryl is a FRAUD!!! Any puppy you receive from her is a puppy mill puppy, with possible serious genetic defects. We had to BLEACH every surface (including carpets) in our home to make sure that any other puppy that comes in contact with our home would not contract parvo. The local ANIMAL CONTROL in North Platte verified that she has a HOLDING FACILITY in her basement-NOT A KENNEL! Spare yourself the heartache, time, energy, and money. Get a puppy from a real breeder, not this puppy broker.
