I was home one afternoon with my children getting ready to go to the store when someone knocked on my door. Like everybody else I should have just said no thank-you and went on my way. There was what looked to me like a high school student standing on my front step. He said that he was working on winning a trip to Cancun and so far he was in first place but that there was someone else nipping on his heals.
I decided to look thru the pamphlet and order some magazines for my girls. I wrote him out a check and away he went.
After a few minutes something just didn't seem quite right so I called the number on the reciept that he had left me. It was automated and said that if I had recently placed an order and wanted to cancel to send in the receipt with the back filled out completely. So I did what I was told and about two weeks later received a refund check.
I took the check to my bank and cashed it on my account. Last week I had a check bounce and was called on it. I went to my bank and had them explain to me why. Come to find out the check was from a closed account. This little mistake just cost me a lot more than few magazines. I would advise anybody to just say NO! God help the next one of these so called salesmen that knocks on my door.
