I was called by someone with an accent who said his name was Matthew. He said that he was from the First national Government Grant Benefits company and that I had been chosen to receive $5000 in free money. As I begin to tell him that I didn't have a checking account, he quickly said that it could be anyone's account in my family and that there was a law that the government can only deposit the grant into your account.
I began to tell him that no one was gonna just give me their account number so he will have to call me back later and I asked what they get out of it. At that point, he began to repeat over and over that if I don't take the $5000, I will not get the $12,500 next year... It began to sound threatening... Said in a way to make me afraid of not giving the account number.
He then gave me an address and told me that he gave it to me so that I wouldn't be skeptical and that they would need me to pay them $30 for paperwork after I received the $5000 on Monday. At that point I told him that if I was to give an account number, that I would put a freeze on the account so no one could take anything out and then he said he would call back later.
