I worked for this Corporation for 14 months as a junior accountant. During this time frame I learned some very negative issues about the business, co-founders and employees. I voiced my opinion about the illegal activites and was fired for bad communication. When I was first employed by Guayaki (G.S.R.P.inc.) I thought it was a cool job. Everyone was young and it seemed fun. However, when I told friends and family of some of the things I mentioned about work, I was asked by them to leave the place that I worked for my safety and health. Later I found out how the Co-founder was living in South America, but using a USA address so he could keep his Visa; I also found that the corporation say's that they are donating money to the reserve in Paraguay, however, I never seen any money go over there to help the citizens or for preserving the rainforest. The employees from purchasing all the way up to the CEO are very comfortable in using drugs and selling drugs within the company and to business associates. One employee asked me if I wanted some drugs then asked me if I would have sex with him. I said "NO" and I told my supervisor and nothing was done. The person who was selling the drugs and harrasing me is still working there. He also sent drugs via Federal Express to another employee of the company. When I confronted the CEO he said that Guayaki believed in a different kind of work environment and that it was dynamic. He said he talked to the employee about what he did and that if it was done againg he would do something about. Which never happened. I said I didn't fit in. I am pro-choice but I don't believe in harrasment at the workplace. And I believe in having a safe home/work environment for myself and son. So now, I am unemployed, looking for a better job with a business that has good intentions, follows procedures and obey's the law, while still trying to keep food on the table and a roof over my head for myseld and 10 year old son. My son, nor myself or friends and family want to consume "the drink of the gods "tea "YERBA MATE." Guayaki is full of a bunch of young, immature, irreasoponsible kids who have no work experience. They believe Guayaki is a cult (Hippie's full of love) and joke about the cult they have created every Monday when they all sit down on the floor, in a circle. Love, I think not. Who fires an employee for trying to improve the quality of a business? Who terminates an employee who is hard working, who was commended for job performance several times and who is self supporting of herself and a child? Guayaki is that is who, and they say they are full of LOVE? Sounds more like using someone if you ask me.
