I am a widow with a income of $261.00 a month unless I pick up baby-sitting jobs.
In 2004 I was informed that if I didn't change my water line from the house to the road, they were going to turn off my water. I got a couple of estiments with the average of $1600.00.
I got a notice in Sept. 2004 that if I didn't pay $179.51 (water, sewage, and garbage) within 10 days of this letter (dated 9/17/04) my water services will be terminated. I don't receive a check until the first of the month. I didn't have a chance before they terminated water on the 27th.
When I went on the first to pay the bill. I was informed I needed $200.00 deposit, $50.00 turn-on fee and a $50.00 turn-off fee.in their fees it is $100.00 deposit, $25.00 turn-off and a $25.00 turn fee.
I wasn't able to pay that amount and was told that I had to have water line fixed also before they would turn water on.
They are charging me $24.30 each month for garbage ($7.50) which I think is fair they do pick up garbage. I am being charged $27.00 a month for sewage.
I did get my water lines fixed in the month of Dec.
They are a sanitart authority that is not covered by Pa. Public Utility Commission. I was told that they can do this no one over sees them. I am trying to find someone that does.
