Since 12 the state of new jersey has implemented an extremely bogus charge if you want to contest a traffic ticket (moving violation). Prior to 12, if you got a speeding ticket and you felt wronged, you would go to court. You win, you win... If you lose, you lose and pay a little more in court costs. NOW if you got that same ticket and you wanted to contest it, it will cost you a whopping 250 dollars JUST to have access to fight it. It is a major rip off. Most folks now will just pay the ticket and keep it moving... The ticket might be 150 dollars... But... insurance fees go up about 300 per ticket and that stays for 4 years. Thats a rip too... But Two Hundred Fifty Dollars just to contest... Its not right.
