If you have applied to this work from home company - run, don't walk, in the other direction!
I applied this week for a position and was told I not only had to switch my long distance company to a company called, Matrix, but I also had to pay a "One Time (non-refundable) Set Up Fee of $19.99" to do so. Oh, not for NHCD though, it is a fee for Matrix "to protect them if I don't pay my bill". Ok, some phone companies might charge a fee of sorts if you have questionable credit - but it is refunded!
I asked the recruiter why, if it was for the phone company, I was paying an unrelated company? The recruiter explained that Matrix was unable to process the payment, (what phone/utility company is unable to process your payment?!) so NHCD is doing them a favor and taking it for them. RED FLAG! I told the girl that I wanted to think about it. She gave me the Matrix Customer Service Number, which just happened to spell out NHCD (6423) for me to call. I decided to call the main Matrix telephone company (800-282-0242) to check into this supposed "Fee" and speak with someone that is NOT affiliated with NHCD. As it turns out, there are no fees at all when changing to their unlimited plan! No fees to protect them against unpaying customers at all. Now why would a large phone company care about a handful of people not paying their bills when there are thousands of regular customers that might not pay theirs?!
When I explained to the guy why I was asking, he said "Oh, that set up fee was set up specifically for NHCD" You have to pay that fee to NHCD if you want to work with them! So I asked him if I wanted to just sign up directly with Matrix instead, could I do that? He stumbled and then stated that I needed to speak with my NHCD Recruiter. If I have spoken with an NHCD recruiter then I CAN'T GET MATRIX on my own!
Obviously this company is NOT hiring for a legitimate business. Someone is making money off of everyone that switches their long distance. SO, if you did apply and that recruiter calls to SELL you the job. Tell them NO THANKS - you already have a phone plan!
