This problem has occurred since installation of triple sliding glass doors in 2007. When the weather gets really cold (below 20 degrees) the bottom tracks ice up and freeze and the doors cannot be opened. The bottom tracks are made of aluminum. Considering the location of Weathershield (WI), I would think that the design should somehow incorporate a small heating element that can be activated in very cold weather. Perhaps more recent designs have taken the problem into account. We are noticing increased frequency of the problem with the weather patterns associated with Climate Change and colder temperatures.
