We moved across the country with PODS and it was great experience. The cost was what we were quoted, containers were delivered, picked up, redelivered and picked up the final time just as scheduled. We had some furniture damage - be sure to use plenty of furniture protectors (we used blankets and sheets, just not enough), plenty of sturdy ratcheting tie downs, and consider leaving your particle board bookshelves with cardboard backing behind. It's a very convenient way to move if you are moving yourself. It was very scary putting all our photos and scrapbooks into the POD, where they would be stored for months and then driven across the country - but they are fine. All of our glass items are fine, from drinking glasses to mirrors and photo frames. The only damage we had was to bedroom furniture that we didn't protect well enough.
