Home Warranty of American denied a claim on my A/C unit when it went out within the first month after moving into my home. They stated that lack of maintenance was the cause of their denial - our inspector and HVAC specialist noted no lack of maintenance during their inspections of our unit, but did note some cosmetic issues that needed to be addressed. These problems were corrected prior to closing, and the company is still denying our claim. We are out the entire cost of a new A/C unit on a home we have owned for only 30 days. We did our due diligence in having an inspector and an HVAC specialist examine the unit. No issues that affected the function of our unit were identified. Our unit worked well for 3 weeks. HWA is saying that lack of maintenance is the reason for claim denial, but during review, unrelated issues not altering functionality of our unit are now the new reason for denial. These people keep changing their story about what they will and won't do in order to deny my claim through any method possible, no matter its validity. Don't waste the money - save your $500 back for when you need to pay for the repair yourself, because you won't get any help from HWA when you need it most.
