The City of Decatur has a sweetheart deal with a recycler. I've contacted the City many times about being charged a recycling fee. The fee is placed on my water bill against my will. I have NEVER recycled nor do I ever intend too.
I've stated to the city that the recycling program should be able to support itself and NOT be a burden to the citizens of Decatur. I never get any response from the city so I'm resorting to any means possible to make them stop charging its citizens against their individual will. Recycling contributions should be optional at best. Not mandatory.
Everyone would love to have a guarenteed income source like the city gives the recycler. You have to wonder what "favors" the recycler is doing for city officials involved with the recycling program.
WARNING - Do not move to or do business in Decatur, Illinois. The tax rates continue to raise and government keeps expanding.
