I have received numerous irritating phone calls from a phone robot purporting to be following up on my participation in a Wal-Mart online survey and claiming I have a $160.00 gift card awaiting my receipt. The call directs me to the wakanetwork.com website. The website purports two different security shields, including Verisign. My research led me to understand that the phone numbers used are actually proxies hijacked from legitimate businesses, vis a vis, Earthlink, One Communications, etc. Waka Network President is Kendra Marcoux, which per LinkedIn.com is in Rhode Island. Kendra Marcoux has only one (1) connection, which would lead me to believe that the profile page is also designed for phishing activities.
This organization is a nuisance and ignores do not call lists (hence the use of proxy exchanges), and should be shut down. It may be a "legitimate" business from a legal perspective, but utilizes techniques to generate revenue that are either under the radar or largely in gray and fuzzy areas. I've not lost any funds, but my research indicates there are a number of individuals who have been nickle and dimed through the Waka Network process.
