I received a call from someone called Marco Davis from Online Local Yellow Pages about a $600 charge one my employees supposedly agreed to over the phone back in November.$600 for a stupid online yellow pages listing! The first I learned about it was last week—I have not seen any written invoice of any kind from them, other than a JPEG attached to a collections email
The rep played some audio file of my employee’s voice verifying something, but no dates or dollar amounts were ever specified.
After that, the rep started getting rather forceful with me. He repeatedly cited some law (can’t remember the name) that anyone at a company—regardless of position or authorization—that okays stuff like this (over the phone or otherwise) automatically makes that company liable for payment. The guy then threatened to turn this over to a collection agency (thereby hurting my company’s credit rating) if I didn’t write them a check for the full amount, with interest, asap.
I can't believe these guys haven't been shut down, running such an obvious fraud.
