Yesterday 3/28 I took a new prescription to our local Walmart Pharmacy. I have Caremark insurance through CVS. I ask if they honored this insurance and was told yes and all they had to do was have my information and run it through their system. So i agreed to have the prescription filled. This new prescription was for a ninety day supply of medication. I continued with my chores until i received a call stating my medication was ready to be picked up. What is normally a 70 dollar copay for a 30 day supply was 95 dollars. I had already contacted my prescription insurance carrier so i k new that 95 dollars was the copay for a 90 day supply of medication so i really didnt question the price. But when i got home and take out my medication it was only filled for 30 days. I imminently called back to the pharmacy and told them there had been a mistake my prescription was written for 90 days and it was only filled for 30 days. I was told that my insurance wouldnt cover a 90 day supply. Remember i have already talked to the insurance provider and knew it would. I explained that i had paid the copay for a 90 supply according to my insurance company. I was told to contact my insurance provider for more service. I then ask since the medication was still sealed and not open could i return it and take my prescription back to my normal pharmacy. I could not return the medication which i do understand this reason of possible contamination. After getting off the phone with the walmart pharmacy i once again called my prescription insurance company. I was told by the insurance company that why walmart honors the insurance the only place can get my benefits to the fullest is either mail order with them or at the local CVS pharmacy that i usually use BUT the 95 dollar copay would have been for 90 days regardless. So basically i am out 25 dollars and 60 days worth of medication. I feel that i was wrongly informed with the honoring of our CVS CAREMARK insurance. All i was trying to do was save a little money hopefully because i had heard other people talk of saving at Walmart Pharmacy. I will not be getting any other medication filled here again.
