Word to the wise: do not give PeopleSmart (www.peoplesmart.com) your credit card number! My wife had received a profane text from an unknown number (cell phone), and, being concerned that it was one of her students, I used PeopleSmart to look up who it was, for a "one-time" fee of $0.95. When I finally looked at my statements from Nov. Foreword, I realized that they were charging me $19.95 a month. It was stated at the bottom of the e-mail receipt they had sent me (didn't read that either) that they were going to do it, and possibly somewhere in the small print before I gave them my card number, although I don't remember seeing it. It's like going into a convenience store for a soda, and then having them charge you $20 a month after that, just in case you ever want to come buy another one. Anyway, I am out $39.90, which I'm sure is nice and legal, because I did not read the fine print. I'd hate to think that I made my living like this, but I'm leaving the situation wiser, and sharing that wisdom with you.
