Goodwill Return Policy Confusion!

I Have been a customer at the Torrington, CT Goodwill in which I purchase many used items including electronics and have made numinous donations over the years. Many times when purchasing an electronic item I am told I have 48 hours to return it. NEVER have I been told that I can't return other items.

Today I needed to return a cell Phone cover because it did not fit my Phone. However, I was told NO returns by the store. When I asked the manager about how I had been told electronics are returnable within 48 hours & I was told it didn't need batteries. Then When I asked only to trade for one in the box (they had many they were selling) for that properly fit my phone the manager (Melisa) flatly refused.

Here are my issues...

First, if the store wants to have a NO return policy they need to make it known to their customers before a sale is made.

Second, if you sell an item that states it is an electronics device on the box and it obviously is sold in the electronic departments of almost all retail department stores (examples; target, Walmat Kmart, Sears, Macy's, and I could go on for hours) Goodwill can not re-categorize after a sale is made to avoid responsibility.

And third, the fact that we were assisted (item was under a glass case) by a Goodwill salesperson in selecting the case at least warrant some store responsibility for the transaction.

In conclusion... Even through I am a fan of the good work of this organization I don't think it is right they play the charity card as often as they do. Connecticut residents and patriots of Goodwill deserve to be treated honestly and fairly just as they should in any establishment. However, I have witness numerous disgruntled customers in their stores. People told (at the checkout) the price tag on an item is incorrect and being charged a higher price, people disgruntled because sales were advertised in newspapers in their local and the store personal told them that the sale is only at another store and items without tags being then priced (seemly based on demand) double what similar item would be priced at in the same store (this has happen to me several times).
