They called the church and found out I was on call for the weekend. Person claiming to be Deputy Robinson requested help for a 'colored family' (man, wife & 2 girls) who's car broke down and needed 64 dollars to get their car from the Carter's car shop. He claimed the Sheriff was connected to the kkk and that some locals were gathering and trouble was brewing. They wanted the $64 paid either by Western Union or WalMart MoneyGram. Then called back for gas money. Undoubtedly, they got enough info about our Church from our website to know how to connect the alleged family in distress as recent visitors who live in our area. They did their homework. It was a very elaborate drama with multiple characters. Four different "persons" talked on the phone. They at least worked hard for their money. I'm guessing they used a burner phone.
