In early December I was interviewed for a project manager position with Smart Home Engineering by Ashley Miles and Alex Summers. I was made an offer and signed a contract and started working with them on 12/13. I was informed that the first month would be probational at the end of which I would be paid $2000 and after that I would be a full time employee at $80,000/yr including all expenses and benefits. I did 4 case studies during the first month and the feedback I got was that everything was good as far as the assignments I completed. While I was on case #3 I was informed that since my work was good I could take on actual projects while being on probation and would be paid $300-$500 per project, which I was fine with. I was informed that a credit card was being processed for expenses and I should have it by the 26th. On the 26th I was informed that there was a delay in the card and I would have it by the 3rd of January but in the meanwhile they needed to complete the project so they would set up a direct deposit form of payout for my expenses till the card arrived. They emailed me a bank account number and a routing number with Sun trust bank. I was to purchase 5 laptops, send the receipt to them and they would approve the transfer of funds after the proof of purchase.
I was not comfortable with this and informed them that I did not like mixing my funds and company funds much let having access to a bank account, so I preffered to wait till the card arrived to do any actual projects and someone else could finish this project for now. They were fine with this and I informed them that I would let them know when the card arrived. 1/3 came and no card. I left a message for Alex, no response. 1/5, still no card I sent another message and email to both Alex and Ashley trying to reach them and no reply. I tried reaching them several times, finally I drove down to Rhode Island where their main office was supposed to be and found out that they never existed. I met with the building manager for their address and he informed me that he did not have a client with that name and never did. Their site is still up and so is the answering system to their offices around the world. The last live correspondence with Alex was on 12/27. I never heard back from them since, until 1/11 when someone called my house from 401-324-9954, the main office number is 401-324-9955 and Alex's number is 401-324-9956. During this period I turned down several more lucrative job offers and today I am still unemployed and actively looking. I feel I need to be compensated for what was owed to me and more for the time I wasted on this scam and someone needs to find them or let people know that this scam exists as I am sure they will find someone else to take advantage off. I have saved all the email correspondences if needed and I would appreciate if someone would get in touch with me ASAP. Thank you.
