CareNow Clinic
Consumer Report

I was very sick, and went to the clinic. The Physician's Assistant tended to me, and had me take an x-ray. She decided that I had pneumonia, and put me on a high power antibiotic. I went away for 5 days. I was only getting worse. I decided to go back in on 01/14.

This business advertises that you can check-in online, and they will call you when your room is ready. I did so. I was called back, and told that my room would be ready in 30 mins. I arrived in 30 mins. I sat in the lobby for one and a half hours waiting for my room. Many others were taken in before me. I asked the nurse seating people what happened to my room, and she snapped back "were busy right now!". I waited, and I was the last one taken in.

It turned out that the nurse who snapped at me was my attending. She started immediately commenting on how sorry that I would be for yelling at her across the lobby earlier. She said that she knew that they wanted swabs, and she was going to do it herself, and make me uncomfortable. She jabbed one swab up one nosstril for 2 seconds, and another into the back of my throat for a mili-second, barely making contact. These were to test for flu and strep accordingly. To make things worse, she began calling me; baby, sugar, honey, sweetie, etc.in front of my girlfriend, just to piss my girlfriend off. It worked!

We waited another 30 mins for the Dr. I heard the Dr. Keep asking the nurse for the swab test results. The nurse did not answer. Finally, the Dr. Cornered the nurse, and I heard her blurt out, "negative". That means I did not have the flu or strep.

The Dr. Came into my room. He said that because the swab tests were negative, the only thing that could be causing my fever and cough was the pneumonia. He schedule me to be admitted into the hospital immediately to be treated for the worsening pneumonia.

I checked into the ER at the hospital. They redid the flu swab test and x-ray. After $1400 of billing, the ER determined that I did not have pneumonia at all, and that I had the Type A Flu, and allergies.

The swab test at the ER was 20 secs long, and in both nostrils. The swab test at CareNow was 3 secs long, and only one nostril. Had they done the flu test correctly, I would not have had to spend the $1400 at the ER for nothing!
