I shopped at the Hobby Lobby for the first time. I did not receive my 30% discount as was advertised above my items. I did not notice until I got home. Needless to say, the management at Hobby Lobby leaves a lot to be desired. They insisted that I gather up all my items and bring them to the store. The receipt from Hobby Lobby is an ancient version of a receipt with no bar code numbers, no identification numbers, and the cashier must hand check each item to find the ones that were on sale. After doing this, and speak with the most unbelievable unintelligent assistance store manager, Karen, she informed me that since I was returning items and paid by check I would have to wait 10 days to receive the money back. She acknowledged the fact that the cashier made a mistake, but company policy is company policy and they will stand behind me. She offered me an instore credit (I had already told her that with such outdated cash registers and unprofessional management, I would not ever shop in this chain again). She said that was "Fine, " I explained to her that when a customer is unhappy it is not fine, the old tradition of a Customer Comes First and the Customer is Always Right (which I might add, the cashier made the mistake not me) she turned her back on the situation and walked away. Unbelievable that a customer has to wait 10 days for a cashier's mistake, even when the store's so-called management acknowledged their error. I told her I would take my items, I would not accept their in-store credit, and I would deal with their corporate headquarters. After reading numerous reviews on line, I doubt that their corporate headquarters will assist, but tomorrow is another day. There are many options for customers in and Hobby Lobby will continue to lose customers with their outdated technology and their unprofessional and untrained managers who hide behind the corporate billboard. Buyers need to refuse to work with a retail chain that has such low concern for their buyers.
