I was going to sign up for Quibids and attempt to purchase some Christmas items in an auction environment, hopefully saving some money. $60 later, I have a $10 gift card. Why? Because I didn't know I was being charged $60. I didn't realize it until the next day. After I saw the $60.00 charge on my bank account statement, I went back in and did some research. I started the process of registering another account without entering in any credit card information. I had to look carefully to see the $60 charge just for signing up. I'm not going to assert that they don't disclose the charge AT ALL, but I think any reasonable person should be able to look at the process and see that it is clearly designed to mislead people. So, for my $60 in "bids, " I now have a $10 gift card. I'm more than willing to forfeit the gift card, which hasn't been shipped yet, and accept a refund, but Quibids is completely unreasonable regarding the matter. They claim that since I used the 100 $0.60 "bids, " they can't refund my money. Essentially, they're running a giant online slot machine. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't - but you still pay. That is NOT an auction. I have very little confidence that anything fair will be done, but if nothing else, hopefully this complaint will prevent someone else from being taken advantage of as well.
