My wife complained there was no money in our joint account. I knew I'd transfered my last hundred dollars to that account yesterday, so I logged into my mobile banking to check. Maybe I'd transferred it to another account by mistake? Maybe I hadn't clicked to confirm?
Unfortunately, this was not the case. The account was overdrawn after an unexpected $40 charge from movielush.com. I asked her if she knew what it was about, but she had never heard of it. I asked her son (eleven year old) and he also denied it. Being skeptical by nature, I checked the boy's web history going back over the three months that this particular card number has existed. No sign of it! Ditto with my machine and my wife's laptop.
How did they get our card #? Why on earth are the charging us?
I called their cancellation line, but was greeted by a recording that played over and over in a loop. I expect my only recourse will be to close this bank account and re-open another to get a new card. Very very unhappy with this scenario!
