About 3 weeks ago, my son started building a computer - his second in a couple months. We ordered $700 in parts from NewEgg. $300 went to an Intel Core i7processor. When the pieces arrived and he laid out the parts to assemble, he realized that the processor did not have a fan. We attempted to email and call, but either got busy signals or no response.
After several days, my son convinced me to buy the correct processor from NewEgg (another $300) while waiting to get in touch to exchange the one ordered in error. Today he finally got thru on the phone. He spoke to at least 4 people who said essentially, "tough luck, dummy. The policy is to exchange only defective merchandise for the exact same item." He explained that he did not WANT another of the same item - and we had already spent another $300 for the replacement. Again. Too bad.
I cannot believe we are the first people to accidentally order the wrong part. Why can't they take back something that hasn't even been opened? If I bring home shoes that don't fit, I can return them as long as they aren't used. You can better believe NewEgg is not getting any more of my business. And my son wants to build PC's to sell to his friends. Too bad. I will take my several thousand dollars a year of business elsewhere. Has been much better to us.
Sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company. Plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
