Fake job posted on job boards in order to recruit

Today, I had an arranged over the phone interview with Crossmark this morning that about a job that had been posted on thier site. The job description read that there was need for a merchandiser in the Huntington, Wva area full time. 36-40 hours a week. Before even accepting the inerview time, I asked the gentleman if these hours were guaranteed or was it like so many other merchandising companies "when the need arises". He stated the work was guaranteed and went into a little bit of depth about the job description and duties. So i excitedly accepted to have an interview with him.

So, im patiently waiting at the kitchen table sipping on my coffee for the phone to ring at the designated time. It did and I was over joyed! I do some independant merchandising along with having a fulltime job. I am ready for one steady, decent pay job rather than the ho - hum of right at minimum wage.

So the interview began with some background about the job, what the duties were, definantly it was full time with a pay of 10.07 an hour plus mileage, benefits would come in a time frame of 30-60 days, time off at Christmas and Thanksgiving, plus working in the designated area of Huntington, WVa.

So the interviewer goes along with his duties of questioning my work ethics and my work habits and my job competency. (I have many years experience in the merchandising area and find the job quite satisfying and fullfilling as a hands on work surrounding). So after all of this, And I found the job just to be one kind that I would be satisfied upon his asking, I accepted the job.

Thinking ahead and caring about the current people I work with I went to my employer and told him about the job offer that I had and was putting in my notice it was too good to pass up, I would definantly not leave him on the spot to have to work 7 days a week, but that I would stay and work the weekends until he found a replacement.

Upon returning home, i began the process of going to my email to get the new hire paperwork done, well, I hadn't received it so I called the Onboard Hotline. I wasnt in the system yet so they transferred me to my interviewer and at the same time, he was calling my cell phone. I answered his call and said wow, Im glad you called I havent recieved my emails yet with the links to all the paper work and things so I can go for my Drug test tomorrow. He was quiet for a second, cleared his throat and said yeaaa, about that. I have some news, some good and some not so good. So he proceeded to tell me the situation. Apparently, the job he hired me for doesn't exist, not in the manner he explained to me. I was lead to believe it would be in the area I was told it would be in with maybe a few that were further in distance. I could handle that, What the job actually was and consisted of is a traveling reset team with most of the work in Marrietta, OH and Parkersburgh, WVa. These places were never even mentioned in the interview at all. Talk about huge misleadings to get workers to work for them. This is totally unacceptable practice for any company I would think.

Falsifying work ads? Doesn't sound like this company is a good one to work for at all. If they are willing to straight face lie to prospective employs, what else would they do?

All I could think about was my putting in my notice at work, if I couldnt have my job their what was going to happen to my family? All I could think about was being on the ever growing unemployement list with very few job opportunities out there anymore, how was I going to provide shelter for my children, keep them clothed and fed?

The outcome is yet to be seen, I talked to my boss and he said as far as he knows, I still have a job, but my district manager has the say so. I live paycheck to paycheck barely in this dog eat dog world and having my hours cut as drastic as they were for this pay period is detrimental to my family. This is just horrible and this company is not one that I would suggest even to my dog to sniff!

My compentency? Crossing my T's and dotting my I's??? Yea, come up with another question for interviews apparently this company doesn't even have a clue about it!
