Street Crime Doesn’t Pay
The Utah Telephone Fraud Prevention Act of 1993 particularly limits jail inmates from phone solicitation. Nevertheless, one or more Utah OBO training organization had no issues about hiring employees with legal backgrounds—especially because the homeowners themselves had such skills. Nic Brown and Jeff Nielson, fundamentals behind the organization JNJ Consulting, each have criminal history records.

This Year, Consumer-Protection briefly suspended JNJ’s permit because the organization software mentioned that none of its homeowners, supervisors or important workers had criminal history records. Brown was charged with theft in 2003.in a January probable cause declaration, a Midvale City Police investigator published that the citizen arrived home to locate a vehicle left in her garage. While she went in, she discovered she'd been robbed of jewelry, power resources along with a computer. Brown was seen making the picture and swiftly apprehended by authorities. Brown prevented test, pleaded guilty and finished probation in 2006. The prison-theft cost was decreased to some misdemeanor in 2007.

Jeff Nielson, who'd later become Johnson’s companion in JNJ, includes a more checkered background. Between 2004 and Nielson confronted 32 legal charges, including prison and misdemeanor charges from offenses committed in Fillmore, Provo and Salt Lake Area. The accusations ranged from forging an $80,000 check to grabbing the bag of the lady packing goods into her vehicle in a West Jordan Smith’s. Nielson was found guilty on 10 felony charges in 2005. He prevented test by entering courtroom-requested medication therapy and spending restitution to patients.By he'd finished probation on all costs.

Both men rehabilitated and managed to move on using their lifestyles … in to the OBO business.

The males just got in big trouble last year when Consumer-Protection discovered their backgrounds left off their telemarketing software.

Despite repeated efforts, Town Weekly was not able to contact Nielson and Brown for this account. But based on a Consumer-Protection administrative finding of reality from April Brown declared that not revealing his prison past “was not intentional” since he thought only offender convictions needed to be revealed and his theft charge have been decreased to some misdemeanor. Consumer-Protection likewise acknowledged that Nielson’s criminal history wasn’t a problem since “Nielson wasn't a worker of JNJ at that time Brown finished and posted the application.”

While JNJ confronted losing its telemarketing permit this year, following a reading with Consumer-Protection, the organization was merely necessary to spend a greater relationship than typical and was permitted to continue running.

Crawford Lindsay, a worker and former supervisor who worked for Brown and Nielson from 2007 to explains the set as Final Fighting almonds, sporting gelled hair and rocking home audio in the office. “They were just about actual Jersey-Shore kinds, ” Lindsay says.

Lindsay says he didn’t completely understand the character of the till he experienced administration placement and started reading what he referred to as a higher amount of client grievances and demands for discounts. The actual offense, Lindsay thinks, was the merchandise they offered clients on.

“These men were promoting shit in a container, ” Lindsay claims of the training deals they offered for numerous training businesses. “I’m just like responsible, but I had been informed from the homeowners that [our clients] were being looked after. It got me some time to understand, ‘Wow, I’ve possibly offered huge amount of money worth of shit in a container, and that I can’t request one [client] to exhibit people how your company is certainly going, ’ ” he claims.

Beyond that, Lindsay claims, Nielson and Brown went no history investigations on workers. One worker, Lindsay claims, was employed right from jail.
