Geeks Unlimited in Moncton is an overpriced business that simply doesnt do proper work for some of its customers.
While on their website youll see rave reviews, the fact remains that Geeks unlimited has taken money from at least one local business and when confronted on the issue gave them the runaround.
This local business was charged $372.00 for work that did not need to be done. What was this inflated cost for?
Geeks claims that the customer needed a new hard drive as theirs went blue screen and that most of the data was not recoverable. That meant that tons of files were gonefor good.
Upon a second look by another local repair outlet it was discovered that the bad hard drive in fact contained all data and no special work was required to transfer the files onto an external hard drive. Their data was in fact recovered by the second repair outlet (obviously not affiliated with Monctons Geeks Unlimited).
Perhaps Geeks Unlimited did not look to see if the MBR (Master Boot Record) file was corrupt and simply needed to be repaired? Perhaps they simply saw a blue screen and thought, Well just tell them that nothing can be done when in fact they may have been incorrect? The evidence points to the fact that Monctons Geeks Unlimited knowingly defrauded
their customer as the second repair outlet demonstrated to the client in question.
When the client in question confronted Geeks Unlimited, what was the client told? A big story. Thats what the client was told. It didnt work out well as the hard drive contained all data, needed no special recovery methods to extract data and client was out plenty of money due to not an error but a fabrication by Geeks Unlimited.
Granted, perhaps the hard drive should not have been re-installed in the system yet thats highly doubtful. One thing is certain: The cost was ridiculous and the data was recovered easily, which Geeks claims they couldnt do. Really? They couldnt stick the old hard drive on an external cable and simply extract the data in front of the client as the second outlet did?
This is where we know Monctons Geeks Unlimited fabricated their claims as the second outlet demonstrated in the presence of the client. Geeks Unlimited in Moncton was willing to throw out all data (personal photos, files, etc) for no reason. Why? Perhaps they were too lazy and didnt want to take the time to do what they claim they do best. Who knows? Whatever the cas, e they lied and got a bundle of money for doing a partial job.
Geeks Unlimited should be avoided by customers at all costs as they fabricate stories, are willing to lose every family photo on your computer and charge ridiculous rates when their work is unethical and unprofessional.
If Geeks Unlimited cares to challenge these claims in a court of law were more than willing.
The above is but one example of others where Geeks Unlimited here in Moncton, NB, has connived their way into the wallets of customers who had no idea what computer repair involved thus allowing Geeks Unlimited to prey upon these individuals (as they continue to do), relying on the customers ignorance of computer related issues.
