Hughes Net FAP scam

I feel the the Hughes Net FAP is a scam. I understand what it is and why they use it. I have had their service for about 3 years now only because I have no other options that I know of. I live in a very rural area and do not have access to a phone line or a cell phone signal.

I have the basic plan for $59. A month that gives me 250 MB a day I think. I understand that I cannot download things like movies or more than a couple of you tube vids. If I do it will push me over their so called limit of bandwidth.

I have downloaded their status meter to show me a percentage (a percentage of what?) of how much I have used in a day. My problem is that meter is not accurate at all and can change at different times. After a while I can expect when it is going to refresh for the day. But when I am watching the meter and it gets down to say 20% I start to watch closely at the meter.

The meter can change from 20% and refreshes and a minute later it will say 72% in only a minute or so. Sometimes it does not refresh back to 100%. Sometimes it does but about half the time it refreshes to 75% or 80%. How is it even possible that I could use 40% of my daily bandwidth in only 1 or 2 minutes. I think it is a scam.

They also scammed me on the installation also. My deal was I bought the dish for $300. The installer charged me another $200 for the installation. The advertisement said it was a free installation, so what was the $200 for? I think the installer just pocketed the money and still charged hughes net for the install maybe.

I was suppose to get a $100 rebate on the installation. When I tried to enter my rebate information it gave me back an error message saying that my "DSS"# was invalid. I never did get any rebate.

I tried to call the so called customer service and after waiting for about 1/2 an hour before I could talk to the guy in India I just gave up. I called again later and talked to 2 other people. The first guy I really could not even understand. (And I was polite and really tried to listen) The second guy I talked to was a little better. But he could not help me with my problems for some reason. It was always some excuse, bad weather, too many people using it at that time, or he said I must of entered the wrong information, or, or, or, ya, you get the idea.

I also seen an offer in my e-mail for $10 off a month on my bill. I thought that would help but it was the same as the rebate. My information would not process and I kept getting an error message. It was correct numbers because I checked more than once.

If I had another option I would use something else. Maybe if I try two soup cans and some string maybe.

And another thing. Has anybody figured out how to use their new so called banking system where you can add some of your unused bandwidth onto the next days allotment? Their website is so confusing it's a joke and so is their service.

I have my auto update turned off.
