Complaint / Review
AOL & Netmarket Trilegiant
Credit card fraud and abuse ripoff Norwalk

I am a member of AOL and have been for many years.in March I noticed a charge on my debit card for $69.95 from a company called AOLNetmarket. I never heard of this company so I got the phone number from the bank and called. They informed me that this was renewal of my membership and that they had billed me the same $69.95 for the prior two years.

Upon further investigation I saw that they had indeed billed these amounts for a total of $209.85. I told them that I never ordered this service nor would I order such a service. They refunded $69.95 for 2004 and told me in order o get a complete refund I would have to fax a request to the home office. I did so and was informed that it wasn't their policy to refund money.

When I told them I never subscribed to this service they told me that in October I called AOL for technical assistance and was bumped over to them wherein I subscribed. Upon calling AOL they informed me that there was no record of any calls for assistance during that period.netmarket contends that they have a tape recording of me subscribing but refuse to provide a copy of the tape. They did however, on three separate occasions, agree to send a transcript of the tape made by them. The transcript hasn't been sent either.

My problem is twofold. My original complaint is about the fraudulent business practices of Netmarket. Perhaps the greater problem is with AOL. I entrusted AOL with my debit card to bill for and only for monthly internet service. They have violated my trust by giving my credit card info to a third party.

In 2003 I changed my debit card with AOL, so they had to have given it to Netmarket a second time. It is to the point where I am treated rudely and abruptly by both Netmarket and AOL. Neither have the will or intention to address my grievance. I did a GOOGLE search on AOL Netmarket and Fraud and was absolutely amazed to see the vast numbers of other victims of this scam.

I cannot understand why they are allowed to continue this scam and why the credit card companies do not revoke their privileges. If you can be of any help I would appreciate it. If I can offer any further information please feel free to contact me.
