Ripoff

On March 13th, I asked for information on a 200gb Western Digital Hard Drive from the email provided in a previous purchase of approx. $35. I was given the Serial No., and checked it against Western Digitals Records, which validated it as a 200gb Drive, but out of warranty. (Not a problem, as it is used hardware) I attempted to order the drive, but was presented with errors on the page, and informed the same email address of said errors.

A return email was sent to me, noting the recipient had placed the order in my name, which I had not authorized. Undaunted, I convinced myself that that was in fact what I wanted in the first place. Upon receipt of the drive (delivered COD, so I was unable to check the drive prior to accepting it.) I found that the drive reported a mere 1.51gb of space, using Western Digital DLG tools, I saw that the drive reported a different serial number, and proceeded to examine the drive more carefully.

I noticed problems immediately, I saw that there was extra glue, as if another label had been placed on the drive, so I looked up images of the drive from Western Digital's website. I was startled, the drive was in fact different. It was in fact a Western Digital drive, but the copyright date on the drive itself (not the label) denotes it was manufactured in 1994.

I immediately did a whois database query on the domain name, and found the 972-020-1116 number, which I'm aware is not a number for that area. (any number starting with 0 is invalid as far as I know also) and upon attempting was told the same. I then emailed the address provided before, and was unable to get a swift response as I had previously.

I did not get the chance to thoroughly contemplate my choice of placing the order (it would have been added to my cart, so I could then calculate the shipping as well) so I was not given the chance to do so. Also, the drive that was sent was not the drive I ordered, even though it holds the label to the drive. I don't even know how someone could switch a label, but it's very unscrupulous.

All I wish is for a refund, and I will happily send this drive back.
