I was hired as a programmer in October. He was often late with my paycheck, or asked me not to cash it for several days, sometimes a week or more, and bounced one that he had asked me not to cash for almost 2 weeks.
He refused to pay for overtime or statutory holidays worked, and when I finally insisted, he then tried to change my employment status from employee to independent contractor.
When I refused, and quit instead, he refused to issue a record of employment for more than 3 months. He finally issued one that was false (along with fake income tax receipts) showing fewer hours worked than in real life, making good on his threat to prevent me from claiming unemployment insurance.
It turns out that he could only do this because he pocketed the first months' deductions at source.
He then tried to get code that I had written on my own time, and for which he didn't pay, threatening to call the police if I didn't give it to him, because he needed the code to sell to his biggest customer.
