I'm a resident of Amarillo, a student of WTAMU, and a frequent shopper of both Hastings and, as a mountain biker, Sun Adventure as well. I have long had a certain respect and support for you as a successful local business, doing as much music, movie, book, and bike gear shopping as possible in one of your stores as I have been able to. I have wanted to support you and develop a support for our town's economy and people.
However, I was made aware that you have recently started to rent and sell pornography on public aisles, easily accessible to someone of any age or gender. While I realize that you probably have laws against renting or selling to a minor, the fact that the covers and names of these movies are openly viewable is offensive, and the pornography industry is one that is degrading to women and teaches violence and self loathing.
I am disappointed that you have chosen to use these business practices to increase your sells. As a local business of Amarillo, all that you do reflects on the town I call home and I don't approve of this representation of my town that I love dearly. As much as I have enjoyed shopping at your two companies, I can and will very easily take my business to Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, and Hill's Sport Shop until such a time that you decide to change your business practices.
