Being an individual consultant providing management and support services, I was looking for an online work from home opportunity. I located the company by way of a previous employer. I was approached by Tom to be the COO.
I updated the existing website, developed business processes, and sought business relationships with many vendors. I also managed and supervised other staff including Tom's two sons. I did not submit my resume because of the referral and previous business relationship. I met with Tom in Phoenix to negotiate with a potential vendor partnership.
Tom was very impressed and we began working and agreed that we would negotiate terms. I should have known then that things were not kosher. Needless to say I trusted the owner of the company on his word after many conversations with him and his family. I even bought and shipped them lobsters!
I was working with a vendor on a new project which involved a lot of customization. I was promised the pay from this arrangement in lieu of no time card being submitted.
I continued to work for Tom and MTP week after week and never received any pay. Working with vendors at a high level left me in a very bad spot because other contractors were asking me about there pay, but I could never receive any answers from Tom as to why myself and others were not being paid.
I confirmed with the vendor that the check was submitted in the amount of $5457 which MTP used for other liabilities converse to what was promised. I was lied to about when it was recieved. I am also owed my last time card amount of $870.
This was a very unprofessional experience and I feel robbed by the mob.
