In June an email request to cancel was responded to by a phone call from Ancestry. But, rather than accept my request to cancel the young lady offered 4 months free courtesy extension. Hesitant, I did accept noting that I still wouldn't have time to use it but if they wanted to extend, okay. Little did I realize that I would have to go through the whole process again at the end of the free extension period.
No reminder email arrived and, since I hadn't used the service (my whole reason for wanting to cancel in the first place), I wasn't expecting one. Now they charge my credit card for renewal of all kinds of services I tried to cancel months ago. Will they please cancel and refund? Not on your life.
A phone call request to cancel was answered by "read the terms of the contract you signed." I never signed anything. "We'll cancel you after the next year is up." I guess canceling my credit card is the only way to protect myself from further charges from Ancestry.
