Bad Customer Service Failure to notify less than full disclosure

This is to let everyone know of an internet sales company to avoid. Not because they are necessarily dishonest but that they are suspect in their business practices.

To some my issue with them may sound minor but to me it is a serious matter that will prevent me from doing business of anykind with them. What happened is that I was interested in buying a 512MB memory key for my laptop. I found that they had the cheapest price and decided to order from them.

I went to their website and placed the order. I have a P.O. Box as my mailing address and they provided a USPS option for a shipping address. So one would think... No problem right? WRONG. Their website (www.ewiz.com) does say that if the shipping address is different than the billing address, the shipping address must be availble from the bank that issued the credit card used. Well my credit union does not have my home address, they have my P.O. Box because that is where I get all my mail.

I went ahead and placed my order using the USPS 2 day shipping option since the other option could not ship to P.O. Boxes. This should not have been a problem since the package weighs a few onces and even with a fair amount of packing it would still weigh less than a pound.

Imagine my surprise when I checked my email two days later to find an email from the "customer service" department cancelling my order. Their stated reasons was

"Due to company policy, we are unable to ship to P.O. Boxes. We hope that you understand that due to the possibility of fraud, we have had to take aggressive measure such as this. Using a physical address is much safer for online shopping for both the customer and us."

Actually, No I don't understand this at all. The billing address on the credit card I used was the same as the shipping address. I provided the three dudget code off the back of the card as requested, showing I had the card in my possession. So how is it possible for this to constitute fraud? Under any circumstances. The P.O. Box is owned by me and is in my name, the credit card is owned by me and is in the same name, the billing address on the credit card is the same as the P.O. Box, Where is the assumption of fraud. THERE IS NONE.

I should also note that their website ACCEPTED my order. It wasn't until two days later that I got this stupid email.

They go on to say:
"We will cancel this order but hope that you place the order again using a physical street address. Please note that there is a $2 signature fee for using a PO Box as a billing address as well."

This fee is not mentioned ANYWHERE on their website. So if you use a physical address for shipping, and a P.O. Box for a billing address they get an extra 2.00 which most people will not complain about because. Hey it's only 2 bucks. Well bull crap. 2 bucks times a thousand is 2 thousand dollars. And I am sure they have made more than that.

My recommendation... Avoid this company at all costs. I will order my memory stick from someone else and wind up paying a few more dollars for it rather than do business with a sheister company like this.
