I recently attempted to cancel my on-line advertising subscription with The Knot when I was informed I was "under contract." However, I was never informed of any contract nor did I sign any contract. I found an e-mail that I was sent 3 weeks after I started advertising with the knot which includes a broken link to the terms and conditions. I later found a version of advertising terms and conditions from 2003 on-line which do clearly state a one year contract and that a button at the bottom of the screen must be clicked to indicate your agreement. However, I never read this contract or clicked this button.
I currently am running ads in two areas: Washington DC and New Hampshire. I attempted to cancel the Washington DC ad and they are threatening to take down the NH ad as a result. What fools would turn down years of ad revenue at $100 a month over $600 of unpaid revenue on account of contract never signed or acknowledged?
