On October 2, a rep from Idearc Media contacted me at home to sell some Verizon Yellow Page advertising for my small home business. I was told that these superpages gets more 'hits' per month and that if it didn't pay for itself there would be no charge and I could cancel at any time. That's all I remember from the conversation as I was 4 days post a major knee surgery and was taking high doses of pain pills at the time of the phone call.
On October 30 I received a letter from Idearc Media along with an advertising agreement of $116.00 per month! I promptly called them to cancel and was told we were unable to cancel this agreement unless we had done so IN WRITING within 14 days of the original phone call. I asked how I would know where to write to when I'd received no written information and I was told I had been given a telephone number to call on the disclosure part of the recording of my original call. I have been refused access to speak to any type of supervisor. I have been refused access to their 'sales department' phone number. I was actually told that they contacted the sales department for me and we were denied being able to break this contract.
I have made numerous phone calls to this company to break a contract that supposedly doesn't even start until December.
I have already filed against them through the Better Business Bureau as this type of practice simply must not be allowed.
