The Company Epcon Computer Corporation with Owner Names of Kris Smalls and Bruce Epps is a complete fraud! They ripped us off of over 7000.00!
We were a new company starting out in February. We solicited several businesses to resell them computer components and among some of the businesses that called us to place an order was this company. The guy went by the name of Bruce Epps at the time. We were new to the business, so he convinced us that the "larger clients" that we would take on would expect Net-30 terms. We accepted this as principle as we were just learning the ropes, so we allowed that.
During this period of about 2-3 weeks the were supposedly expanding and growing so much that they had to open a new store. The truth is, they were evicted from the other store for non payment of rent, and were ordered out by the Sheriff to move immediately. It was during this time they were purchasing merchandise from us for their "new" office they were opening. We sold them exactly 7535.00 in merchandise and they stocked their shelves with it for the grand opening.
Finally, the thirty day period hit, and they wrote us a check from their business bank account for 7000.00 and when we tried to take it to our bank to cash, they would not as there were no funds in the account. Then, we took it directly to their bank to cash, and even their bank verified they didn't even have 50.00 in the account!
I decided to do some investigating and found out that the whole company is full of crap. They have reported to the state of FL that they have 65 employees and make 7 Million per year, whereas they have 5 employees and don't clear the 1 Million hurdle even. His mother owned a Mortgage company and she was forced to close due to non payment of rent as well. That business was named Epcon Mortgage.
At this point I knew I was probably going to be screwed out of my money, and sure enough, one year later I STILL have not been paid.
I have turned this over to two collection agencies, one attorney, and several other resource recovery agencies. Recently they had a judgement of $86,000.00 entered against them by Fidelity Leasing Corporation. They had leased merchandise and never made payments at all. The company is so pathetic that they even have ripped off companies for 50.00 and let it get on their business credit report, instead of just paying it!
After the check had bounced I confronted him several times, and he swore to be getting the cash from his bank, and made up all types of stuff to avoid paying this. He even said his mom had a heart attack and had to leave for several weeks to NC to see her. I called his dad, and found out this was completely false!
THE BEST PART OF THIS IS: We are FINALLY getting the AG to do something about it and we are naming the business owner Kris Smalls with Felony Check passing charges and intent to defraud a business. Also, the company uses Illegally licesnsed Microsoft products in the computers they build, so if you have purchased a machine from them, be very careful.
Kris Pretends to hang out with all sorts of Football and Baseball stars, says he drives a Lamborghini, etc, but he is basically just full of CRAP. Be aware, and stay AWAY!
