Defective graphics card (NVIDIA) in thousands of laptops and HP knows it but won't fix it!

HP KNOWS of the Nvidia defect and has been providing bios updates and bandaid fixes that will make the computers last just until they are out of warranty! The failure typically occurs after 12 to 18 months. The number of affected laptops is larger than people realize—but HP knows this! They are counting on people NOT being informed of the defect, and they are charging people an average of $400 to basically replace an "old" defective part with a "new" defective part that will ultimately fail in 12 to 18 months. The warranty for the replacement part is only 90 days. Consumers should not have to pay to fix an inherently defective computer!

I have spoken to several people at different levels at HP over a dozen times in the past months. I was given band-aid fixes while still under warranty. Had I known about the defect I would have insisted that my computer be fixed properly and without a defective part. The most HP will offer me is $100 off of a repair cost of $400. I do not wish to pay for the repair of an inherently defective computer.

I will never buy another HP product again, and I will be filing complaints everywhere I possibly can so that others can be informed. HP is deceitful!

Go to hplies.com or nvidiadefect.com for the truth. Also look at HP's support boards (although they are censored), and you'll see how widespread this is.
