Corporation Are they refusing to let me install this so they can force me to buy a more expensive version?

I think i have been defrauded!

I bought a genuine microsoft office home and student edition for nearly $70-$80 by the time the sales taxes were all added in.

I bought it at office depot and at that time it was told to me by the office depot employees that it was not a bootleg or an unauthorized copy.

When i tried to install it on my desktop computer, i kept getting an advisory message telling me i had to enter a 25-character product key.

The explanation goes on to tell me that " although you are not required to enter your product key now, we recommend that you do so for ease of validating your microsoft office license, for information about where your product key is located, click the help button." i guess that is the little blue circle at the bottom left of the page with the question mark inside.

This damn container is covered with bar codes, numbers, letters and all sorts of validation stuff and the disk itself is holographic — a rather unusual goldish orange color... It has to be legit.

Finally located the literature that comes with this and it tells me where to find the product key. A series of letters and numbers. I don't know if i am supposed to enter the dashes between these series of numbers and letters or not. And no indication if this * is case-sensitive or not when i type it in because all of the letters look like capital letters.

So i type the product key into the space and it tells me that i have typed the wrong number in there. There seems to be an issue with the first letter.
I typed it in with the caps lock down and then without the caps lock and i tried it with all small characters.

I tried it a lot of ways and nowhere on the damned container is a telephone number or any way to call these people to find out what is happening here. I have a term paper to write and a couple of other academic project that need to be e-mailed to my instructors!

I tried to work with the word program from this office suite but it is loaded with malware and the screens froze on me!

I looked on the side and it said in order to validate the program, i have to go to www.microsoft.com/useterms. You go there and you have to download an adobe reader program to get the user terms.
Ok now i have read the user terms and typed in what sort of program but there is no way to send my information to microsoft for validation.

Every option i have seen which proposes to help you is a circle to websites which go nowhere and communicate with no one — at least who could help me with this! The telephone numbers that area available are only for people who bought computers with microsoft office 2007 already installed and i was installing the program which i thought was legitimate.

If i had bought a computer with this program already installed, i would be able to call thse numbers and pay for technical assistance.

In the meantime, i was told i could use this 21 times without validating it —and then i guess it will self-destruct or something?

It is looking like that every time i attempt to validate that i actually bought this, it is not a bootleg or a illegal copy, that it counts as a time that i used it, even though i never typed a word on it. Or even got it open.

When i tried to use it without validating it, the screen froze up and i was unable to type anything on it and the entire system slowed down.

I bought this program from office depot and i would like to know why i can't validate it and why there is no way to communicate with these people about this particular program and why there are no instructions or customer service telephone number on what to do if you have issues with this program that come with the installation disk.

The only "help" you get is a referral to more microsoft websites —none of which help me to enter this stupid product key to let these people know i own this software and i want to use it since i paid a lot of money for it.

I think these people have committed fraud by selling me this and refusing to stand behind it.

It is their product but they are not letting me install it because they are claiming that the product key that is coming off of their own product box that i bought —is no good!

They want me not to be able to validate it and count each time i validate as a time i used it. Then when i have tried to validate it 21 times, they will destroy the application and make me buy another more expensive one without giving me any credit for what i already bought.

If this is the case these people ar ripping people off and they are committing fraud against me!
