Cancelled service, They are STILL billing me! Won't listen! Abused & mistreated ripoff

Two and a half months ago, my roommate was signed up for AOL autovantage and she wasn't sure why. She cancelled as soon as she found out and hoped that that was it.

In February, AOL autovantage made an autopayment from her Wells Fargo account in the amount of $89.95, causing overdrafts and a couple of checks to bounce. She was infuriated but called AOL and Wells Fargo and let them both know the situation. AOL reversed their Auto-draft and Wells Fargo reversed all other charges and covered the bounced checks for her. She made it clear that she cancelled the account with AOL.

AOL's people said that they would make sure the account was closed but ended up talking my roommate into keeping her email address for $2.95/month. I, personally, can't stand AOL and set my roommate up with a better email account with Hotmail, which was free and bigger. My roommate was also happy to know that Hotmail doesn't delete your read messages after 7 days.

In March, however, we were a little strapped for money as gas prices have gone up and businesses have shut down. She checked her account only to find herself $165.69 in the hole! Due to AOL autovantage deducting the $89.95 from her account again, a few checks bounced once again and then there were the NSF charges and overdraft fees. Wells Fargo, once again, is willing to reverse the charges that AOL has screwed up on again, but we're not sure how long this is going to last. The next time AOL does this, we may have to take legal action against AOL.

AOL acts like they are the hottest and best, but they're no more honest than a pathelogical liar. The reason they have so many customers is because the consumer is trapped by location (people need the internet for work) and some are just to comfortable with AOL... Others are being scammed and can't get out of it.

Beware of aol.
