Ripoff Plan Pathetic service, unethical billing practices, and unreal late fees

I bought a Gateway Computer, which of course, eventually failed me after 2 years. I went through gateway for the next year attempting to fix the problem, as it was still under warranty. They lead me on for the year until my warranty expired, then refused to do anything.

Like an idiot, I allowed one of the employees to talk me in to doing a trade in and getting a new system. I only did this because it was the only way I could get a system that worked. The sales rep said he would send me a shipping form so I could return my old system for the trade. It never arrived. I called and was lead on again until the trade in date expired and they would no longer accept my trade in. Now I have a new system and and old peice of junk sitting on my floor.

Prior to buying the new system, I called the bank Gateway uses, and asked how this new purchase would effect my payment. The rep at the bank said, " as long as you keep your balance under $2,00.00, your payment will not go up." With this in mind, I kept my balance under. My payment didn't go up. At least not for 90 days.

After 90 days, my payment increased by nearly $40.00 a month. When I called, I was told I was on a 90 day same as cash plan, and the 90 days were up. I explained no one had ever told me this, and I had been mislead. They said they were sorry their employee mislead me, however, they were not able to change their policy, so I still had to pay. I explained I could not afford this. They said they were sorry and would turn it into collection. They said I was at fault for not paying attention to my statement. I explained nothing on my statement reflected this type of plan. They simply ended the conversation.

Not to mention, they have been charging a 55% finance charge, and unreal late fees on a plan I didn't even know I was on. They mislead me, then hammered me on various fees until they had me to a point where I couldn't recover. I even spoke with a supervisor who refused to help me. I then asked to speak with her supervisor. She said that was not necessary, and said she already answered my questions. She flat refused to allow me to speak with her supervisor. I asked her if this was common business practice. She said yes.

What a scam this company has. Sell you a junk computer, when it fails, refuse to help until the warranty is gone, then offer to help for a fee, or talk them into buying another peice of junk and increase their billing rates to the point they can't afford it. Oh yeah, and lets not forget the 55% finance charge. Wow!!!
