Having purchased a new computer, brought it home and turned it on. The first thing I did was uninstall undesireable (sp?) programs/applications. Already knowing the shoddy reputation of AOL, they were the first to go..
Fast forward 4 months and I notice a charge from AOL for about $29 dollars on my credit card, same one I used to purchase my computer... I look to past statements and notice another charge the month before... I immediately call the # on the bill and the fight begins... Reading the past statements before I decided to write this gave me a sense of deja vu. First I was told to call back on a certain date at the end of the billing cycyle to cancel and receive my credit for the "mistake"
When I call back I am told there will be no refunds and that I simply did not decline the service... When asked to speak to a supervisor, I received the response that there was not a supervisor available, and if there was, they would not refund the money. Two phone calls were enough for me so I immediately went to my credit card company and filed a fraud report. They credited my account, immediately changed my credit card acct so the charges would stop comming, and are proceeding to deal with AOL themselves.
I never asked for service, and still end up a victim...
