My husband and I attended a workshop offered by Stores on Line on November 27 in Albuquerque, NM. We were literally "swept up" with the ranting and ravings of one Mr. B%M%, supposedly one of Stores on Line's previous "newbies" 4 years ago. According to him and Steve, the emcee - their plan for going on line with our own websites was the very easiest in existance, less costly than anyone else and would provide all the help anyone could possibly need to succeed.
Yeah, right! I have spent hours and hours on a daily basis, trying to get a website ready to publish with these folks. I am not a computer genius, but I'm not completely stupid, either. I already had one website of my own and put it all together myself. With Stores on Line, the program is so confusing, using multiple steps when 1 or 2 would suffice, and very time consuming. Their tutorials contradict themselves and are not complete. You follow along and all of a sudden, what the tutorial says will happen, doesn't. You are left with no information as to what to do next.
The main reason we went into this program was that we were promised total compliance with their promises of "all the help you need." Their chat line is supposed to provide all the help availabe. All those 5 to 6 young people can do is repeat over and over - "Read the tutorials." I was made to feel stupid when I asked for help with using an ftp. I was told "We do not provide information about ftp's." Well, apparently they don't provide much of anything other than their litany of "read the tutorials."
We are a retired couple, living mainly on a very modest fixed income. We felt this was our way to make enough to allow us to travel and enjoy life in our last years. At this point we are $4,000.00 poorer and very frustrated with our ongoing efforts to build and publish our 3 websites.
Something should really be done about Stores on Line and other "fly-by-night" companies who literally hit town and run aftermaking promises and taking people's money.
We feel embarrassed that we were taken in by this slick company and all the little "penguins" they are sending all over the country. (They all wear black pants and white shirts and are from Orem, Utah - does that give you a clue?) Talk about hypocrisy!
