On 1/31/03 a bill was sent to my husband for "Premium Web Content - Adult". The bill was dated 1/31/03, usage of 3 minutes for $4.99 per minute, on 1/27/03. Payment due 2/12/03, or else go out to collections. That was pretty fast billing!
Looking at the time of the charges I wondered if my children accidentally went to an adult content web site, due to all the pop-ups and email spam they get. My youngest son has just gotten started on email. I thought I blocked all spam out, but maybe he looked at the junk filter. Who knows. My children tell me there were together at the time, playing a computer game. We connect via Cable. We do not dial up. The computer they were using has a pop-up blocker, so I know they didn't get there on that.
To research, I went to www.alyon.net and looked at the FAQs. They say you must "ACCEPT" their terms, and when you do, a dial up connection is downloaded to your computer, you are disconnected from the internet and the computer dials the new number. Well, there is no telephone attached to this computer. How could it dial out? There is also no charge for this long-distance call on my phone bill.
I will be disputing the charge as they suggest I do in the FAQs section. I will be filing a report the my state's Attorney General. I will do all I can to stop this fraud. I will also check for the "downloaded dialer" and make sure it is removed if it even exists.
