Circuit City Electronics Store - BUYER BEWARE Nothing Good About This Company!

I had a problem with my notebook computer and I decided to get it in to Circuit City for repair before my warranty expired.

I explained my problem was that my battery wouldn't charge any longer. So they replaced my battery. That was good. But after a day of charging... My computer still didn't work with only the battery... It had to be plugged into an outlet to stay on. So I took it back to inform them that the battery replacement didn't change things.

So the FireDog representative wrote up a work order for repair and indicated to the repair "Depot" that the computer wouldn't hold a charge on the battery and wouldn't stay on without a hard wire source.

I was told it would take about 8 days to get the computer back. Then for 50 days I got the run around about my computer so I started making noise by calling daily.

The first call to Circuit City the representative told me that the repair Depot had received the needed parts and were working on my computer as we speak. So about 10 days later I still hadn't received my computer. So I called back and talked to another representative who said that the repair Depot had received the needed parts and were working on my computer now.
Geez... I told him that was exactly what I'd heard 10 days prior.

He said sometimes the Firedog Depot doesn't keep them updated. Then I finally got a call from Circuit City who said that they were having to replace the mother board to fix the no charging problem.

So I waited and waited and waited. Finally 50 days into the process I went down to the Circuit City Store to ruffle some feathers. The Firedog representative said that they'd closed out my work order several days ago.

So after raising hell... Circuit City made some phone calls and found that they have decided to replace the computer. That was good.

But I told the representative that I need my hard drive off of the computer because I have thousands of dollars worth of programs that could not be replaced. I had files of wedding pictures that I'd taken as a side job and that I had customers that were expecting those wedding pictures.

I told him I had 10 years of Real Estate databases set up on that computer along with real estate records so I really need my hard drive. The representative said usually when they place the order to replace the computer... They salvage the computer. WHAT??? I told him there was nothing wrong with my hard drive... Yet they threw my computer away without even consulting me.

I said that was totally unacceptable so I called Firedog... I called Circuit City and got managers of both on the line to tell them they needed to find my computer and remove the hard drive and get it back to me. I finally got a call back from the store manager who said he was sorry to report that they had already THROWN MY COMPUTER AWAY!!! WHAT THE F&!

So I called Circuit City Corporate and spoke to yet another representative who said that he'd talked to the warranty company and they were replacing my computer. I said look bonehead... I could give a damn about the computer... I NEED MY HARD DRIVE!!! But he said they were not responsible for loss of data.

I said so let me get this straight... I take my computer in to have a power issue fixed and the company trashes my entire computer without notifying me and says they have no responsibility because they relieve themselves of liability when they take the computer with a Terms of Service agreement that I never received.

Can you believe it? Trashed all my years of business because my computer wouldn't hold a charge.

CIRCUIT CITY is a total RIP OFF and I will do everything I can to prevent others from buying anything from that store.

Things to ask under the terms of their warranty. What is the time frame you people have to repair a computer before you replace it under the terms of the warranty? 50 days is way too long. They could build the entire computer from scratch is a day. 50 Days!

My experience with CIRCUIT CITY truly sucked. Sure I'm finally getting a new computer replacement... But I'm probably going to get sued for them having THROWN AWAY MY BUSINESS!
