I contacted a sales guy at Protec with regard to buying a video system for my store. The guy came out to look over the place and give me a price. During our conversation he mentioned that his company put together the DVR recorders themselves and that this saved customers alot of money. After he left I consulted a friend that suggested him to me about his system and he said that he bought a system from him similar to what I needed.
I ask was he given the original OS disks needed to prove registration of the software in case of an issue later. He said NO he was not and questioned this himself. He was told that it wasnt needed it would only cost more if he had to license each system so he just used the same one to program all the systems he sold. I find this to be alarming (no pun intended) as there are federal laws regarding such things I am sure.
I later contacted the sales guy, turns out he was the owner, Richard Sampson, and he was vague regarding this situation and could not or would not give me his assurance everything was on the up and up.
This company is shady and I would not work with them under any circumstances.
