Computer Applciations' Peter A. Puleo - make sure to "trust but verify"

Our company contracted Peter A. Puleo's company Computer Applications Resources Company to do an audit, I was the IT manager at the time.

The President of the company contracted him to make sure that we would have the IT capability for the future.

What I did not know was that every piece of information Mr. Peter A. Puleo with Carco.com would use to blast me and my performance.

If I had to do it over again I would not have done it, or have gone through the audit with Ronald Reagan's maxim Trust but Verify.

After we decided to get a Microsoft Windows 2003 Server and VMWare architecture the actual conversion was a complete nightmare.

The day before the conversion (scheduled for Saturday morning) Peter A. Puleo sent me a network diagram which outlined all of the changes. There was just one problem, he re-arranged all of outgoing IP addresses within the firewall, which was unnecessary to get things running on Monday.

Peter A. Puleo instituted so many changes without little if any testing by him and his minions, that it was no wonder that everything went down the tubes.

And to top it all of, the President did not believe me, as Peter A. Puleo fed a bunch of lies to the President.

He did not mention the lack of testing, the last minute changes.

So, if you have to run a project with Peter A. Puleo with Carco.com (Computer Applications) I would keep an eye on everything that he does.

Peter A. Puleo apparently was so busy with all of his current clients (we were a new one) that he did not have time to get everything done on time.

So in retrospect, I should not have trusted him very much. His massive experience (which he was constantly dumping down your throat every time you talk to him) meant nothing. Humility is not in his dictionary

Peter A. Puleo's experience caused Thomson Financial Services to call in a tech to check an Ethernet card, when in the end it was Carco.com's faulty firewall configuration.

So, if only Peter A. Puleo had a smaller ego and would have tested a lot more (as he claimed they would do).

I.E. I need to see a successful test as I want to verify the test.

My recommendation: trust but verify or go to another vendor

Of course I was laid off because I was ultimately responsible, and did not mistrust Peter A. Puleo.
