Nonstop Complaint Super Slow Speed FAP overkill Stay Away From this Company

I have had wildblue for almost 2 years.installer was incompetent. The equipment was faulty from the beginning. I have had very intermittent connectability the whole time, VERY slow speeds (average of 65kbps download and 16kbps upload) the entire time.

Now they say that I exceeded my bandwidth and they have "slowed" my speed down (average of 18 kbps download and 2 kbps upload on a real good day) and on most days I can't even load a web page or retrieve my email.

From June 4th to when I received a "you have exceeded your bandwidth" notice on June 30th, I was continually frustrated about my incredibly slow speed but didn't know what was the cause. I made sure my virus and spyware programs were working correctly and checked to make sure that no one was secretly accessing my system. Then I received the notice. So I called and they said that I had exceeded my bandwidth on June 3rd. And that if the 30 day rolling total continued to exceed, they would slow my speed down. I tried to tell them that it HAD been slow since the day after I had sent out some wedding photos. (They were large so I'm sure that I did exceed the bandwidth on that date.) But they didn't sent the warning until June 30th, and then the "we've slowed you down" notice arrived the next morning, July 1.

So here it is, July 30th, nearing 2 whole months later, and I'm still barely able to get online at all. Many calls to them and they continue to give me a different explanation. They allege that I am continuing to exceed my upload limit which is totally impossible with the little I am able to even be online. Then last night they said that I'm continuing to exceed because I'm using a router and that takes up more bandwidth. Which makes no sense at all since I've used the exact same setup since the day I got wildblue and it wasn't a problem before. They tried to tell me that once a system has been slowed down, THEN the router makes it a problem. I had turned off the other computer on the system so the only one trying to use any bandwidth at all is mine. My system is secure and there are no neighbors close enough to piggyback on my connection, not to mention that I have it safeguarded anyway and maintain a constant watch to make sure there are no other computers using my system.

They provide an "idiot gauge" on the website that simply shows if you exceed your bandwidth or not. It does not show a graph of when you supposedly used the bandwidth. This is not helpful. I keep asking them when is this going to roll off and start me over but now they say that there is a 30 day from the last date you are in excess, that they penalize you with slow or turn off. Ok, so why am I still not turned back up to my usual screaming fast average of 65kbps download and 16kbps upload? (sarcastic voice here)

Wildblue is a horrible company and does not get anywhere near delivering on the supposed speeds they advertise, even when you are not slowed down. I would never ever recommend this company to anyone else. Dialup was far better and much more reliable.

I just want wildblue to be held accountable for their misleading advertisements regarding the speed and connectivity one can expect from their service. For $50 a month it is ridiculous that for days at a time you can't even load a web page. It seems that they are allowed to get away with making these claims and then in the contract they say in effect, "you pay and you may or may not even be able to get a connection and too bad if you don't have speeds as fast as dialup". Also, they should be required to tell you that when you exceed your bandwidth, they will slow your service down to the point where you really can't use it at all.
